red maps.

The holidays are coming up right quick. Since we can't pretend that during that time all your thoughts are going to be on music and fashion, we've decided to be accomodating and be there for you in your time of need.

What that means is while we'll still continue to write about fashion and music and whatnot, we'll also be helping you out with gift ideas for people with good taste.

That being said, feast your eyes on the gift of the day: Red Maps.

Not only do Red Maps give you an overhead view of each city, they also give you detailed info on everything you want and need in a city center: Luxury Shopping, Indie Designers, Boutique Hotels, Theatre, Museums, Beautiful, Parks, Incredible Architecture, Popular Neighborhoods, Important Landmarks, and much much more (each according to what the city i known for and uniquely offers).

Their philosophy is simple: "We do not accept advertising. Stores, hotels, restaurants and places of interest are included solely because they are noteworthy and entertaining. Our philosophy makes it easy to be true to what we do, to stay objective and produce a beautiful product."

You gotta admire that. No ads, just honest opinions.

So for the worldly traveler, the cultural enthusiast, the cartographer who frames maps of places they've been, or just that friend in your life who loves finding cool things to see and do in each city, stop by the Red Maps Website and pick up some maps. for $10 you really can't go wrong.

calm the ham.

calm the ham is a weird name for a company. There's really no way around that. But now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can move past it, and talk about what they're doing that makes up for their lack of skill in naming companies.

Calm the ham is a colleciton of artists, all with incredible minds for simplistic design. Most of the work comes by way of inforgraphic, typography, and unique representations of cultural history. my favorite, however, is the city skylines collection. These prints feature iconic city skylines from some of the most famous cities around the world in simple, elegant silhouette.

this colleciton includes a hge number of cities, so you'll have no time forming a collection of your favorites. And since they start at $29 per print, there's really no reaosn to not buy a few. Stop by their site and shop around the collection by clicking here.

City Slicker.

The last day I was up in Utah visiting Andrew we ended up in Salt Lake. Mostly because the airport is up there, but also just to cruise around the city. If you ever get a chance to see Salt Lake City I highly suggest you do it. It’s a nice city, by nice I mean clean. Most cities aren’t that clean. When I think of city I think of dirty Los Angeles and how every time I’m up there it’s gross. There are a few nice parts of LA, but for the most part it’s more grime less shine. No hate Los Angeles, but real talk. I know it adds character and all, but LA you dirty. I’m no princess on my pedestal demanding cleanliness everywhere I go, but I don’t mind when things are on the cleaner side. I mean, who doesn't? Salt Lake doesn’t have the big-city-dirty-thing going on. It’s nice and isn’t intimidating either. You can walk, bike, drive, or tram around the city which is also nice and usually the case with most cities. With plenty to see and experience Salt Lake City also has a lot of hidden gems. You really don’t know what you’re gonna get when you turn the corner of the next block. It adds a little fun to walking around and discovering things. We had the camera with us so of course we were gonna snap some photos. You’ve gotta take advantage of the city when you’ve got a camera. So many opportunities for some solid pictures while you’re there. I’d be dumb not to jump all over that. This one’s for the city life, go get ‘em!
