mmmmmmm awful.

I love breakfast. No, like, I LOVE breakfast. If I could, I would marry breakfast, but it would all just be an elaborate ploy to eat her entire family. The only breakfast food that I'm not always a fan of is waffles. It's not because waffles themselves aren't extremely delicious; they are. It's because most people don't know how to do the waffle justice. Po' wittow waffle, always prepared incorrectly: either thin and crunchy, or huge and dry.

I had had enough of these Belgium bummers, so I embarked on a journey of hope, willingly waiting for wonderful waffles. I knew not where they'd be, or how I'd even find them. I just knew that somewhere, they were calling to me.

One day, my search led me to The Awful Waffle in Provo, Utah. I had my doubts (especially since the word 'awful' was in the title), so I brought Andrew, Matt, and Sloane with me just in case. This is our story:

The Awful Waffle is, essentially, a walk up waffle shack. it's a one-room kitchen with two windows: one for odering and one for picking up. The menu is simple: waffles or crepes, along with a plethora of possible toppings, both savory and sweet. You wait in line to order while strategically building your batter-based treat in your mind. You can choose either a standard Belgium/Brussels waffle, a Liege waffle (more dense with vanilla added), or a crepe.

Once you've decided what the base of your breakfast banquet will be, you proceed to add toppings. I'll say this, they did not skimp out on topping selection--they've got it all. From fresh fruit, to sauces, to meats and cheeses. You name it, they've probably got it, as well as a few you hadn't even thought of (liquid teddy grahams for example...nom nom). At this point, the quality of your waffle experience is dependant upon your own decision-making skills. After you've placed your order, you grab a seat and play the waiting game for a few minutes.

Finally, the waiting game ends. Your name is called and vioula! Breakfast is served with a smile.

On this particular waffle adventure, I selected the Liege waffle with Strawberries, bananas, caramel sauce, and whipped cream. Matt went with the strawberry and nutella-filled crepe (he's watching his figure). Wise decisions.

I gotta say, breakfast was delicious. Seriously. The toppings were on point, and the waffle itself was cooked to perfection. The Awful Waffle restored my faith in the waffle industry as a whole. It's nice to see people out there stepping their game up to make sure breakfast remains the most important and most delicious meal of the day, no matter what time you eat it. So if you're ever in the area and are down to get down on some waffles, make sure you stop by The Awful Waffle. Click HERE for more info.

Bon Appetit!

breakfast is served.

No, you're not dreaming. Your eyes do not deceive you either. This marvelous creation does, in fact, exist. I know because I made it myself. I've decided to call them O.D. Waffle Rolls. I've given them this name for two reasons: 1.) They're a combination of orange danish cinnamon rolls and waffles, and 2.) You can easily overdose on flavor from eating them.

The creation process is simple as can be; it's a matter of four steps.

1. Purchase Orange Danish Cinnamon Rolls from your local grocer.

2. Place your rolls into a scolding waffle iron. DO NOT OVERCOOK THEM: crispy = bad.

3. After a few minutes of iron-time, remove waffles and drizzle delicious frosting on and around them.

4. Put them into the large hole in your face and enjoy (not recommended for anyone with a hole in their face larger than their mouth).

Combine those rolls with a glass full of juice (preferrably one with wildlife painted on it) and consider your life changed. Don't be afraid to try something new.

Tuna on rye.

This is lunch. Basic tuna on rye.

Added onions and bell peppers to the tuna.

Topped it all off with a tasty lettuce blend.

It's beautiful day out, so why not enjoy a sanwhich?

This is what I had for breakfast today. Blueberry waffles and bacon. Yum.
