Far Too Long.

It's been awhile since I've gotten tacos. I went and got some with Timmy, Scott, Johnny and Brandee. I don't know why it's been so long since I've eaten at Taco Factory, but I have been missing out. Since we were in the spirit of tacos I had to throw a choco taco in the mix; smart. I've some more pictures to post, but this is what I've got for now.

Gobble Gobble.

Today I went for a ride. It was very enjoyable yet saddening at the same time. Wait, what do you mean Taylor? Well, let me enlighten you. For starters, any time I get to ride a bike I thoroughly enjoy myself. Let me specify: any time I get to ride my bike that is. I hate riding anything else; it's just awkward and feels wrong. People who ride bikes know what I'm talking about. No matter how much adjustmenting you do to making it more comfortable, it’s never gonna feel quite like the setup yu've come to know and love. Now where was I? Oh yes, my ride was enjoyable because I hadn’t ridden in forever, and it was nice to get back in the ol' saddle, so to speak. That was the fun and enjoyable part. If you've ever participated regularly in a sport or any physical activity that requires stamina and strength, and then stopped doing it for an extended period of time, and then decided to pick it up again, you know what comes next...soreness. It had been a considerable amount of time since I had last ridden my bike: far longer than I care to mention, so I won’t. That being said, the legs I once owned, that had pushed the pedals with quickness and grace were not where I thought I'd left them. Instead, they had been replaced with two weak, noodle-like ligaments that gently rested upon the pedals. That was the sad part. I have fallen out of riding shape and it makes me feel terrible. But I plan on changing that and becoming the fast rider I used to be. Hopefully muscle memory is quick to snap back, we’ll see.

After the ride I needed to eat something to refuel, and prevent my muscles from disintegrating all together. I opted for the turkey burger you see above ^. It’s the perfect, delicious, lean, protein I needed. I am a big fan of turkey burgers. Don’t get me wrong, I loves me a cheeseburger, but I’ll never turn down a turkey. You've never had a turkey burger? Really? Well I think it’s about time you change that, my friend. You really are missing out. 

If you ride, let me know. I’m down to ride, and you’ll be great motivation to get my butt out there and back on the streets. Ride safe and eat up!

Moolah And The Guac.

 

Chips and Guacamole are classic. The chip itself, a staple in the world of snacking. It's one of the go-to's. After you've made your chip selection you often ask yourself, "What could complete this snacking experience?" The good thing here is you have unlimited options. Mine is clearly guacamole, but yours doesn't have to be. It can be salsa, melted/unmelted cheese, French onion dip, hummus or whatever else your little brain can imagine to dip a chip into or put on top of it. The possibilities are endless. Give me an avocado, a little salsa, some spices and a little lime juice and we're in business. It's nothing fancy, or like some cheap restaurant pretending to be better than they are by calling things 'gourmet', just a basic guacamole mix that is complimented perfectly by a crispy chip. That's another thing, the chip shouldn't stand out. The chip is the supporting role to the much tastier star of the snack, the guacamole. If your chips taste better than your guacamole then you've done something very wrong my friend; try again, or don't, depending on how bad it was. You can leave it to someone who knows what they're doing. This is not one of those try until you get it right things. You either get it or you don't.

 

I approve chips and gucamole as a solid, Drip Cult-worthy snack option. Eat up friends.

5 Tips To A Good Morning.

1. Wake up - Really? Yeah, really. This one is easy, but not always guaranteed. 

2. Shower - This will help you wake up. Plus it’s hygienic. People like people that smell good. It’s a proven fact.

3. Music - Put on some tunes to rock out to. Solo dances parties ftw. Like this little diddy... 

4. Eat - Get some food in your system to kick start that metabolism and to get some energy. 

5. Read - Find something interesting to read. Whether it be the book you’ve been reading or a quick article that interests you. Try to make it something new and interesting. That way it gives you the rest of your day to think about it, share it and find out more. 

*Extra Tip*

Morning stretches - This one comes from Aaron. Get that blood pumpin’ and those muscles warmed up. If you need more info on what his routine is you’re going to need to contact him because I don’t know it.

Taco Tuesday - 12.20.11.

Yesterday was Tuesday so you know what that means: tacos, tacos, and more tacos! The tacos featured above belong to James, a wizard with food I might add. It’d been awhile since I have attended Taco Tuesday, my schedule has been crazy and wasn't allowing time for it. But not this time! Don’t call it a comeback. Well actually, call it a comeback because that’s exactly what it is. Since Andrew and James were back in town, we had to do it big. So we got as many friends together as we could and got our grub on. Andrew was watching the boys so we brought them along too. They always keep things interesting. After all, they’re five. It was a good turn out of friends and with perfect weather. It was nice and sunny and if you're not in California, your winter probably doesn't look like this. Sucks to be you! Tacos for everyone! Unfortunately, tradition states that we must elect a Taco Tuesday Weirdo. This time we had two. It kills me to do this.

These Taco Tuesday Weirdos are Brock and Landon. I didn't want to do this, but they got a bean and cheese burrito... who does that? I blame Andrew for this travesty, but BMG said  that’s what they wanted. He could have easily gotten them tacos instead, but he didn't. I'm sorry boys, I really am. I hate myself for this, but there must be consequences for your actions! I know you didn't really have a choice,  but you could have thrown a fit until you got them or something. Next time. Again boys, I'm sorry.

The California Burrito.

 

What do you get when you wrap up carne asada, pico de gallo, cheese, and fries in a tortilla? The great and delicious California burrito. This is no ordinary burrito, this is the creation of a culinary genius. It is speculated that the California burrito originated in San Diego, CA in the 80’s. In 1995, the first documentation of a California burrito was an article in the Albuquerque Tribune. So this burrito is a pretty new fusion of tastiness. It’s reaching its 30’s now and has really discovered who it is. The California burrito has been known to try out different styles. The one I listed above is my preferred liking of the California burrito, but not the only way to make one. Some people prefer carne asada, cheese, fries and sour cream in the burrito (like Timmy). I prefer to also dip mine into sour cream. Hence, the side of sour cream pictured above. Some also add guacamole, everyone has their preferences. As long as you have carne asada and fries wrapped in your tortilla you’re still in the California burrito realm to me. There are also plenty of places to get a good california burrito around here. My favorite is available at Los Primos. The greatest little Mexican restaurant around for a California burrito. Another solid place to get one is Albertacos. Theirs is prepared differently than Los Primos’, but is still a good burrito. Andrew, Aaron and I went to Los Primos yesterday and enjoyed the wondrous creation. Los Primos is one of the places we go to often. One tip for eating at Los Primos, don’t go inside late at night. Try to order your food and get outside as quickly as possible. Don’t ask why, just accept what I say and trust me. For those of you that know what I’m talking about; what are they doing back there? I’ve never known why it smells like that, forever a mystery. Anyways, go get a California burrito and enjoy the explosion of flavors in your mouth. Long live the California burrito!

Taco Tuesday - 11.15.11.

 

Yesterday was Tuesday, so you know what that means... Tacos! This Taco Tuesday venture included Timmy, Jordan, Kori, Matt, David, Adam and myself. It was a tasty venture as always. If you still have yet to go to the Taco Factory for tacos on Tuesday you're missing out. I've been switching up my taco styling and it's been quite prominent. Taco styling = what you put on your tacos e.g. salsa, onions, cilantro and such. I have my same order, two carnitas and a potato, but I no longer style them the same. I style one of my carnitas taco as always with pico de gallo and lettuce, it's perfect. The second one is now being styled with a street theme; onions, cilantro and lime. Classic and delicious. The slight change up is the perfect mix for my taco palette. Come out and try it some time. See you guys next Tuesday! Oh, and of course there was someone that didn't get tacos. I have dedicated a part of the post to them now. Enjoy.

Snack Night.

 

It's just one of those days. I am lazy and I don't feel like doing anything. So guess what? I didn't. My highlight of the day is Kelli coming over and then going to Target with her. Pretty crazy right? I'm a regular party animal. Everyone knows that a lazy day is not complete without treats. Good thing that I have my girlfriend Kelli because she knows how to snack. We kept it light tonight with just two things, Mike and Ike's and Vanilla Tootsie Rolls. Maybe because we're making cookie brownies later, but that's besides the point. Well here's to all you other lazy bones out there. *Pops Mike and Ike's into mouth* This one's for us.

Let's Eat.

 

We ate like kings while I visited Andrew. Burgers and fries at the Creamery on 9th are unmatchable. It's a good burger and fries at an even better price. The best bang for your buck around. The french toast was enjoyed at Magleby's. If you don't know what that place is or where it is, go hit yourself in your head with a rock and then go get some. I cannot stress enough how amazing this french toast is. Actually it's the syrup that really makes it. It's like sweet nectar put on this planet by God himself. Heaven must be populated with fountains that are constantly flowing and oozing with this sweet syrup. No joke, go get some tomorrow morning if you can wake up in time. I forgot to mention it's all you can eat. Kneaders can suck it. Yeah, I said it. Get over it. That beast of a hotdog you see Andrew toting is a creation of his own. I'm not going to go into much detail on that because he will. J Dawgs is Andrew's second home. All I'm gonna say is go eat there. I think Andrew will have some more words on this subject later.
