first aid kit.

A first aid kit can be quite useful in a number of ways. It can be put to use treating physical injury, saving a life, as a paper weight, a spacious kit for caring non-first aid related things, or to cure musical boredom. In the case of the latter, we, of course, need a different type of first aid kit. Specifically, a Swedish Folk duo comprised of two harmonizing sisters named Johanna and Klara Söderberg (good luck pronouncing that crazy ö letter).

These two vocally gifted siblings got there start in 2007 when they sent a home recording of an original song to a local radio station in Stockholm. After receiving some significant ariplay over the course of that summer, they were signed to Rabid Records and released their first EP the following year entitled Drunken Trees. It just goes to show you, if you want something bad enough and you're willing to get out there and work for it, anything can happen. It does help to have remarkable talent and unique style, but still, that whole follow your dreams thing is real too.

The next few years were spent finding their sound, playing shows, and exploding all over the interwebs via myspace and youtube (possible Swedish pronunciation of "the interwebs": zee eentehrvebs). In 2011 they were signed by Jack White to Third Man Records where they released two albums: The Big Black & The Blue, and The Lion's Roar (most recent).
They've come a long way from their humble beginnings and they've done so in a very short time. They are now compared to bands such as Fleet Foxes, The Tallest Man on Earth, and Teegan and Sara. Generally the Duo includes guitar, keyboard, and vocal harmonies, but occasionally they'll throw some drums and other instruments into the mix for good measure.

Bottom line: these adorable little ladies are not messing around. Well, I guess technically they could mess around of they want to during their free time and whatnot. I haven't really been there to see for myself, but I assume that when it comes to creating catchy tunes they keep the messing around to a minumum and really lay it down. I can honestly say the more you listen to them, the more you'll love them. So allow me to "aid" you (see what i did there?) in the first steps towards developing a long and loving musical relationship between your earholes and First Aid Kit:
