"there are things out there that I appreciate on other people that i wouldn't wear myself because I know it wouldn't be an authentic representation of myself."

I do believe a man should put his clothes on thoughtfully, but the end goal is to not look like you've been overly conscious to the way you're dressing."

"Style is about illustrating who you are in what you wear."

yego moravia - designer, teacher and entrepreneur. creative projects at Hella Crisis. Graphic Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

"fashion is really just the thing you say without opening your mouth; the thing you say by how the clothes lay on your body and what textures and rhythms, and even words, say on your clothing."

"i think style is curation -- i think it's choosing the parts that tell your story best. it takes a little bit of effort to dress yourself in a way that reflects who you are as a takes a little bit of care even though you want it to look like it's no big thing."

"you have to take a little bit of a stand of are you gonna be the type of person that dresses like everyone else, or is there something about you that might want to express yourself a little bit...?"

"style is the first thing you see when you meet someone...and in a way, you start to understand them, because that's what the people you meet want to express."

"what defines the clothes and the look is how you're going to adapt it: how you're going to make it fit with other pieces. I think each person is defining their own style --you can have 1- person buying the same pieces and they'll have a different look when you see them in the streets."

fashion profile - simon spiteri.

Simon Spiteri began as the fashion buyer for Liberty and then founded Anthem, in East London in 2011.

"I felt, I guess as everyone does, growing pains that I didn't look the right way and didn't fit in. Fashion, for me, was a way of exploring a lot of creativity, and it made me feel good. And that's what clothes should do: clothes should make you feel good. It's not about fashion; it's about a lifestyle...If you feel good, you're gonna look good."

"The man makes the clothes, 100%. Clothes are nothing without the person that wears them, they're just an object."

fashion profile - alex blimes.

Alex Blimes. Editor of British Esquire Magazine.

"You know, the whole thing 'what's the difference between fashion and style' has become, to me, a cliché and boring. Those distinctions are just less interesting than, you know, more subjective things like do you look good. That's much more important than 'are you fashionable? are you stylish? Just, do you look good? do you feel good?"

THE ABC OF MENS FASHION - ALEX BILMES from Hardy Amies on Vimeo.

"let's not try and define what fashion is or what style is, because in doing so, we dillute it and make it meaningless. Let's just enjoy the fact that some people dress fabulously and most people don't."

"Don't let the clothes wear you; make sure you're always wearing the clothes."

THE ABC OF MEN'S FASHION - DEAN from Hardy Amies on Vimeo.

"I once had this unle who said 'whenever he was feeling a little roguh that day, he would go out of his way to really dress up--almost put a mask onto clothes to make himself feel better, and it worked...apparently.' I'm experimenting with that philosophy myself. I think it's a good philosophy, it's worked for me.

fold a suit in 1, 2, 3 and to the 4.

A good suit can be a beautifully delicate thing; careless treatment can mean the end of a several hundred (or thousand if you have the means) dollar investment down the drain. So when traveling with your suit(s), you generally want to either hang the suit in the garment bag from the car window or coat closet on a plane, or use a foldable garment bag.

But what if there isn't room in the car to hang your suit in a bag? Or what if there's no room in your suitcase for a garment bag, or you don't have a garment bag at all? Fear not, my friends, there's still hope for you and your precious suits. While I recommend finding a way to keep your suit hanging while you travel, or using a foldable garment bag, the next best thing is folding it like a pro. THis can be done in four simple steps

Here's a quick video tutorial on how to do this

Essentially, in this process you're turning the suit coat inside out and folding it neatly into a square, allowing the interior of the coat take the stress. Make sure that, in each step, your suit is free of all wrinkles and folded naturally, not roughly or forcefully against the grain.

If you happen to have a large ziplock bag, allow me to suggest the suit in a bag method:

Take care of your suit and it'll last you as long as you need it to. Abuse it and you'll look like a chump.
