local natives - airplanes.

I've been listening to a lot of Local Natives lately while I've been studying for my latest round of tests. So close to being done with with semester. Thank the lord. Well, this is what I've been using to keep me calm and focused. Maybe it'll work for you. Enjoy.

chicago x all things go.

I love when you find the original sample of a song. It makes the sampled song that much better. That's what happened yesterday.

I'm driving around with my girlfriend and she tells me to put on the song "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens. I've never heard of him before, so naturally I'm curious to hear what he sounds like. As soon as "Chicago" starts I instantly know I've heard this somewhere before. It took me a second and then it hit me – "All Things Go" by Chiddy Bang.

I knew the song "All Things Go" used a sample because Xaphoon Jones is notorious for his great sampling and the rest of the mixtape is full of samples too. I'm sure if I did a quick google search back in the day I would have found out what artist, or song, Xaphoon Jones sampled from without any problems. I just never did.

I haven't listened to Chiddy or The Preview in awhile, but it's great mixtape that's gonna be going through my speakers for the next couple days. I have the original sample from Sufjan Stevens and the sampled song by Chiddy Bang above. Both are great tunes. Enjoy.

fleet foxes - white winter hymnal.

It's been a mellow morning and we're keeping it going throughout the day. Thanks to Kelli for sharing this with me.

imagine dragons.

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
I'm never changing who I am.

This Las Vegas-born band is just now beginning to get the type of recognition they deserve since their beginning in 2009. They've put out three ep's so far, and have just recently announced the release of their first full-length album set for September. They signed with Interscope Records in 2011 ans have been putting together ridiculously catchy indie rock songs ever since.

It doesn't surprise me that they're growing so rapidly either. I've had their song 'It's Time' stuck in my head for at least two full months by now. Imagine Dragons is four-piece band that is consistently able to write unique songs with creative riffs and rythms that make you want to clap along. Not only that, but their lyrics boast positivity and inspire hope. "The only rule of thumb, it seems, is to write from a true place." Lyrics are honest and emptional, you can see it when they play--they really put everything they have into their music. In my opinion that makes their music relatable to everyone.

I'm a big fan, and I think you will be too. Give them a listen and if you like what you hear, check out their Official Website for more information and a tour schedule (I highly recommend catching a live performance).
