Entries in kanye west (21)

kanye being kanye.

"For a typical fashion designer, New York Fashion Week prep begins months in advance, and one of the first priorities is securing a spot on the official Fashion Calendar. Now a digital platform operated by the CFDA, which works to prevent scheduling conflicts between two shows that might draw the same editors and buyers, the Fashion Calendar lists events up to six months ahead of time. Enter Kanye West, who decided to stage an over-the-top spectacle for his latest Yeezy collection and the debut of his album "Waves" (and not tell anyone about it until a week or two prior) at 4 p.m. on the first day of New York Fashion Week. This was not great news for two labels slotted to show at the same time.

Former J.Crew designer and current Banana Republic creative advisor Marissa Webb, whose show for her eponymous line was also scheduled for 4 p.m. on the 11th; and Adam Selman, a favorite of Rihanna'swhose show was scheduled for 5 p.m., both rescheduled their shows at the end of last week, after news broke of the Yeezy season 3 event.

While the element of surprise might add to the buzz and excitement surrounding West's show, it puts other designers in a tough spot. Even an established, respected brand can't expect to compete. Selman, whose shows draw a similar crowd to West's, confirmed his switch to the 6:30 p.m. slot last Thursday morning, though a rep would not confirm the reason for the scheduling change. Webb's PR team sent out an email blast on Friday evening informing recipients of an "updated show time" to 3 p.m., writing: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are 'swishing' the time of the show to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11. Sorry for making 'waves.'" Get it?

This isn't the first time West has disrupted a designer's Fashion Week plans by announcing his own show at the last minute. Last season, emerging designer Anne Bowen planned to debut her new streetwear line at what turned out to be the exact same time as West's show, and she was not afraid to speak out about the strain West's last-minute announcement put on her business, telling WWD , "We have been prepping for a year for this at considerable financial, labor and commitment-cost to our company. Our show date has been scheduled for months and has been on the Fashion Calendar for weeks... Kanye knows he is a media sensation and it is just not ethical to do this." She was forced to show on a different date, "which [was] a logistical nightmare."

Details of West's show still remain scarce, but on Monday, West tweeted a link to a sale site where fans can purchase tickets to see the event streamed live in theaters from Madison Square Garden."

So what did we learn from all this? Kanye's dropping his new album and clothing line soon. Get on board or GTFO.

kanye west x dirk standen interview.

at this point, i really don't even need to mention the fact that kanye dropped yeezy season 1 and that yeezy season is here. everyone knows and everything is out. in truth, there's not much i can add that hasn't already been said. you've seen the invites that were jackets, you've seen the yeezy boosts, you've seen the clothes, you've seen the fashion show and you've heard the new song. what else is there? everyone is going to say what they think and whatever dumb shit they speculate or want to just blurt out. i don't care about that. i care about what the man himself has to say. in the interview that kanye west did with dirk standen for he talks about everything. if you really are a fan of 'ye, fashion or just want to know more about the guy you need to read it. jump over to the interview here, learn where kanye is coming from and where he plans to go. enjoy.

kanye west x adidas yeezy 750 boost.

the kanye x adidas sneaker finally has surfaced and has a release day. these guys leaked last friday and have taken over the internet since. people went wild on instagram when they leaked. it only took minutes before they made it to all the blogs and everyone was talking about them.

if you still don't know, the official name for the shoe is the yeezy 750 boost. so far it comes in a grey colorway, but more are sure to come and the sneaker can be worn in 5 different ways. i'm still curious to see more high res, better quality pictures of these shoes. everything so far looks like it has been from an iphone or something like that.

the official release date for these are February 14th, 2015. it is going to be released in the adidas flagship store in new york and a few other selected retailers based in new york only. looks like everyone else is going to have to wait or pay outrageous prices on ebay.

can't wait to see these in person and to see what else kanye comes out with.

kanye west yeezus tour footage.

did you miss out on the yeezus tour? have two hours to kill? well, today's your lucky day then.

someone, who has even more time to waste than you, put together the entire yeezus set with a bunch of footage dug up from an eclectic mix of people's cell phones and video cameras. there's also a little professional footage mixed in too.

i'm going to the first to say that i loved kanye's performance and the yeezus tour was unreal. the guy who put this together did an amazing job. i was literally taken back to the show and felt emersed in it again. i've said it numerous times and i'll say it again. yeezus ruined shows for me. i have been to quite a few shows since and nothing has come close. nothing.

i know this video will do never do justice or give a proper representation of the show, but for those of us who went it's brings it all back and gets pretty damn close.

like i said, if you've got time to kill and can stand some extremely poor quality at times, you should give it a watch. plus it's got a little clip of king kendrick in the beginning. he was also amazing live. enjoy.

kanye west vs. sam smith - tell me i'm the only one (carlos serrano mix).

unless you've been actively avoiding music, you should know who both of these artists are. they both are amazing in their own respects and when you bring them together you make magic. their tracks get rinsed regularly and i'm sure you can't stand the sound of "latch" just like everyone else. thankfully, you don't have to with this track. this awesome mix by carlos serrano brings kanye's "can't tell me nothing" to life again with sam smith's "i'm not the only one."

so sit back and relax with this track. enjoy.
