cole haan zerogrand.

I finally convinced myself to pick up a pair of these guys and so far they've been worth every penny. granted, I got them at half the price, but you get the point.

they're easily the lightest oxford-style shoes I've ever seen and, by far, the most comfortable as well. It's like I'm walking on a cloud and on top of that cloud is an additional layer of sweet sweet memory foam, and that memory foam is filled with dreams and happiness.

it's like my feet are silenty nodding in approval and gratitude with every step i take.

Now, I don't wanna tell you how to live your life... but go buy these shoes. do it. do it. buy them. buy them now. you'll thank me later. Actually, you'll thank me the second you put them on your dang feet. your feet will thank me too.

are you kidding me, Cole Haan? As if the lunargrand dress shoe collab with Nike wasn't enough, you've gone a step further and successfully blown my mind.

The lightest and most comfortable dress shoe I've ever seen, the zerogrand utilizes nike sole technology in a way that's never been done before, and it does so in style

With a flexible, seamless upper, and a free-moving sole, the zerogrand is designed to move and flex with your natural body movements and feel almost like you aren't wearing shoes at all.

I know what you're thinking: "any shoe can be made to look cool and futuristic with those marketing glamour shots." And youu're right. Luckily, the actual finished product is still just as gorgeous.

As you would expect, a pair of these will run you about $250, so start saving up. And in the meantime, stop by the new zerogrand site to learn more about them.

my first floresheims.

Just picked these bad boys up--Floresheim Ninety-two Ox in multi gray. A new spin on a classic.

Floresheim is known for it's quality in production and durability on classic styles. And while I'll admit, they haven't always been known for extreme comfort or current trends, they're really starting to turn things around in that sense. Their new styles are lighter, more comfortable, and more fashionable, all while maintaining their durability and reliability.

  • Upper: Soft milled leather or milled leather with camo canvas
  • Lining: Unlined
  • Insole: Non-removable Comfortechnology® PU footbed designed for long-term comfort and wearability
  • Sole: Lightweight, durable and flexible XL Extralight® sole

The Regular price is $175, but right now you can find them at Nordstrom Rack for $119.

    colored laces.

Finally someone has come to realize the need for oxford colored laces. I've been trying to find decent colors other than what come with the shoes for ages. It's nice to be able to add some color to your kicks when you want to without being restricted to boring brown and black all the time.

It doesn't have to be a solid color shoe either. Check out these saddle-style oxfords with colored laces.

Don't be a fraid to try something new. Pick out a color that you like that doesn't clash with the shoe itself and go for it. The nice thing is that the laces themselves are super inexpensive so you can try a few different colors. You can buy them individually or in multi-packs.

    Here's the multi-pack offered by 1901.

FYI, you don't have to buy the entire multi-pack if you don't want to. You can just walk into Nordstrom and pick and choose whatever you want in the men's footwear section.

If those particular colors aren't to your liking there are tons of other places to find laces; just make sure you get a decent pair that are the right length. A good idea would even be to check the official stores of the shoes you own. That's what I did with my Allen Edmonds:

Here are just a few more examples to get you rolling.

    Want: Cole Haan Air Colton's.

I was in Nordstrom the other day and I saw these beauties. It was love at first sight. It feels like they were made for my feet and should be on them right now. I almost bought them on sight, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't an impulse buy. Even though it would have been a perfectly fine impulse buy, I resisted. Let me tell you friends, it's no longer an impulse buy. It has become an obsession and I want nothing more than these shoes. Soon I will own them and they will be on my feet. drip drip.

    kicks for under a hundy.

It's easy for me to sit here and tell you what shoes you should buy, but if you're anything like me, what you want and what you can afford are not always the same thing. If that's the case, I'm sorry for reminding you that money doesn't grow on trees. Luckily, I've decided to provide you with what I like to call 'James's Top 10 Value Kicks.'

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of Value Kicks: Good looking oxford-style shoes for a hundred bucks or less.

I know, I was surprised that Merriam-Webster actually used the slang "a hundred bucks" as well. Nevertheless, here you go (click the underlined model names for more info):

    Bed Stu - Ellington - $95

    Feathers - Canvas Stentorian Oxford - $58

    J.D.Fisk - 'Paul' Oxford - $83.90 (on sale)

Bed Stu - 'Orleans' Saddle Shoe - $98

    1901 - 'Bennet' Oxford - $49.90 (sale price)

River Island - Low Profile Brogues - $70

Florsheim - The No String Wing Oxford - $100

Hawkings McGill - Leather Chambray Oxford - $78

    River Island - Perforated - $70

Ben Sherman - Mixed Mayfair Derby - $110 (I know they're over $100, but let it slide, they're awesome)

There. Now you have no excuse to continue wearing shoes that are anything less than amazing. Every respectable man should have a few good pair of oxfords. They're great for dressing up, or keeping things casual while still looking sharp. Leather, canvas, suede, they're all good choices. Just be sure to grab a pair that you absolutely love, because if you don't love them, chances are you won't wear them. "On the strength."
