Belieb the hype?

it absolutely kills me to say this, but Bieber's new album is actually not completely and utterly terrible. That being said, it seems like everybody is going crazy about and raving about how "amazing" it is, and I'm here to tell you that it's just not true. Don't belieb the hype.

What I will say is this: there are, in fact, 2-3 bangers on this latest album and maybe one slow jam that's pretty good, and the rest is just borderline nonsensical garbage. Keep in mind that all of these songs are written by Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Sonny Moore, Jaosn Boyd, and an entire team of paid songwriters not named Justin Bieber.

The underlying theme of the album seems to be apologizing for being a dumb adolescent, complaining about a teenage relationship between two pre-pubescent idiots, and asking people to understand that the life of a celebrity is real hard and that we should be more understanding of celebrity screw ups, blah blah blah..... welcome to adulthood, Mr. Bieber.

But like I said, there are some bangers. So here are the only songs on the album worth listening to:

Where are you now?

What do you mean?

mark my words

summary: a great songs surround by some garbage aimed at making a statement with some cheesy "purpose"

monday jamz.

starting this week off with some righteous jams. Especially this first one...really hits the spot.

the libertines - gunga din

Stromae, the belgian artist blending hip-hop/, house, electronica, and legitimate lyrics. Stromae not only brings a unique sound to international pop culture, but he does so with seriously deep topics and lyrics, which is uncommon in the genre. His songs are good, and his style is on point.

We love stromae. you will too.

vök - við vökum.

the weekend is here and this week we've got a mellow tune from for you guys to enjoy.

vök is a trio from iceland that delivers chill, electronic feels that help you unwind and get into that mellow weekend vibe. The vocals on this track, sung by Margrét Rán's, are easy to get lost in and flows effortlessly into your ears.

these guys are taking over iceland's music scene and are making their way over to the states. exxpect more from this group and keep an ear out for them.

so sit back, chill out and enjoy the track

the royal concept

this swedish-formed band feels like a cross between Fun and a hipper, some hipper version of dashboard confessional if they had withstood the test of time. I know that describing a band like that may instantly detract a lot of people from giving it a chance. And yeah, maybe I'm a little bit ashamed of listening to a band described as futuristic dashboard, but sometimes there are songs so dang catchy that you can't really do much about it.

That's exactly what happens for me whenever I hear their anthematic (like unto an anthem) song On Our Way.

The rest of their jams are decent as well, with a few guilty pleasure gems. But this one just felt right to start the weekend. Here are a few others in case you liked the first one.

major lazer - aerosol can ft. pharrell williams.

ready for a new dope video from major lazer? the correct answer is yes.

the latest video for major lazer's track "aerosol can" features mike giant and his handstyle with a little art while pharrell reminds us that he can spit a nasty verse.

i promise you this song will be stuck in your head after you hear it. it'd be weird if it wasn't. i mean it's major lazer (aka diplo) and pharrell. unless you've been under a rock lately you know pharrell is on top of the world right now and you're probably still humming his track "happy" or thinking about that ridiculous hat of his.

enjoy this track with the new visuals and work it into your weekend playlist.

chvrches - the mother we share.

this track has been the anthem for my colorado trip.

it's been played in the car, at the place i'm staying and anywhere else it can be played since i've been here.

you've gotta love her voice and the overall feel of the track. i mean how could not? it's a synth-pop track.

originals are good, but of course i looked up a remix and i found one i like so i'll post that too.

listen to them and enjoy.

fall playlist '13.

My favorite thing to do in the fall is take long drives and walks. Luckily, living in Utah has it's benefits in this department. Now if you can add the perfect soundtrack to that activity, and some good company... it really doesn't get much better.

Allow me to present your fall playlist for 2013.
