Homemade Pumpkin Pie.

I love pumpkin pie. I love it like a fat kid loves cake. There is something special about this time of year and it’s the pumpkin pie. I don’t know what it is about pumpkin pie, but if it’s available I need to be eating it. I don’t think of myself as addicted, just committed. Pre-made store bought pumpkin pies weren’t available yet and I needed a pumpkin pie fix. So Kelli and I made one, well mostly Kelli. Yeah, my woman can bake and she can bake better than yours. We bought a sugar pumpkin, baked it, scooped out the insides, blended it up into a paste and had our real pumpkin ready to go. Next of course came the added ingredients such as an egg, condensed sweet milk, and various spices. We also employed the skills of Kyle, Kelli’s dad, who is basically a master chef and can create a delicious explosion of flavor in your mouth that will leave you wanting more every time. Let it be known that he just showed us a pan flouring technique and nothing more. Also let it be known that the man can flour a pan very impressively. There is a real art and form to it. Once our pan was flour we laid in our pie crust, formed it to the pan and poured in what would become our pumpkin pie. A very tedious hour and a half later, an hour of cooking with a half hour of cooling, we had a beautiful pumpkin pie ready to eat. Hands down this pumpkin pie was one of the best pies I have ever eaten. I don’t know if it was the recipe, the ingredients or the TLC that went into making this amazing pie; but it was magical. I highly recommend making a pumpkin pie from scratch. It is worth the work and the wait. It is a delicious treat that you will remember time and time again. The only thing I warn you about is you may scar yourself and taint your taste buds. Once they taste and enjoy the amazingness of homemade pumpkin pie nothing will compare. Thanks again Kelli, you make a mean homemade pumpkin pie.

The Great Pumpkin Rescue.

What you have just witnessed is the rescue of this pumpkin in need named Tomas. We found him lonely out in the world and in dire need of help. We knew we had to save this pumpkin and give him the opportunity to live. A few surgical incisions and a few handfuls of inners later, Tomas was saved. He thankfully and graciously gave his pumpkin seeds which were the only things he could offer. We declined at first, but he insisted. Tomas also told us that if we cover the seeds in sugar, cinnamon and butter that they would be delicious. Tomas was right. If you have the means and good heart to go out a save a pumpkin this season I suggest you do it. You won’t regret helping out and you will change a life forever. Make this year's Halloween count.
