the north face - fuseform.

the north face began selling specialized gear to backpackers and climbers in 1968. They've come a long long way and have branched out from making backpacks (where their reputation began) to manufacturing all kinds of gear for the outdoors.

Their latest release, and what is probably the most unique design in years, is the fuseform rainjacket.

This thing is no joke. It's crazy light--weighing only 11.46 ounces--and still holds up to tough conditions. the name FuseForm comes from the the process innovated by the north face of fusing strong nylon yarns at the shoulders and breathable polyester yarns through the torso for targeted abrasion resistance.

Rain is no longer an excuse to stay indoors. Stop by the north face's website to learn more about the shells and scoop one up. treat yo' self

winter chucks.

Converse jumped on the waterproof bandwagon and dropped their line of weatherproof all-stars. for only $60, they're definitely worth a shot. take a look:

duck season.

in most places around the country fall = rain, sometimes even snow. what that means for you is that your feet need to stay dry and warm instead of moist and cold. I instantly regret using the word 'moist'. moving on...

for me, the coolest option for fall/winter weather on your feets is the duck boot.

Now i'll be the first to admit: it can be really tough to find a duck boot that:

  • looks fresh
  • doesn't make your feet look like they belong to Shaq
  • Don't cost you a small fortune

this dilemma has led me to search unusual options and alternatives to the classic duck boot. you may remember the Dr. Martin Drench boot from a few months back. My search continued and finally lead me to the Timberland Stormbuck Waterproof Duck Boot. This may very well be the coolest duck boot I've ever seen. And now, it's the coolest duck boot you've ever seen. You're welcome.

Yeah, that's a wing tip duck boot.

and the rains cometh.

As Winter slowly fades and Spring takes its place, things tend to get a little rainy. And if you're in certain areas, things get downright drenched. I'm moving to San Francisco in a few months and I thought to myself, oh dang, it's gonna get real wet in the rainy season. So I decided to invest in some protection. No, not a weapon. I meant protection for my feet. No, not a knife that pops out of the toe of my shoe. I mean rain boots.

Now, in England, wellington boots are the only way to go. And while they look great on adorably cute women, I just wasn't feeling that style for men. Feels like something you'd see in a 19th century painting. Not my cup o' tea.

Believe it or not, the name of this painting is actually a portrait of the Duke of Wellington by George Dawe from 1829. That's right ladies and gentlemen, the wellington boot was actually named after a Wellington. See, you learn something new everyday.

Needless to say, I wasn't planning on rocking these ever. For me, it came down to two options:

Hunter - bakerson sneakers

dr. marten's - drench

For me, the dr. martens were the ony way to go.

  • Vulcanized natural rubber upper construction provides outstanding durability.
  • 100% waterproof.
  • Traditional Airwair heel loop.
  • Black fleece lining for added comfort.
  • EVA-molded footbed provides all-day comfortable support.
  • Smoke rubber outsole is air-cushioned for superior comfort and traction.

Swoop here to pick some up for yourself. Remember: nobody likes a soggy foot.

dr. marten - drench.

As winter begins to die down, we fool ourselves into thinking that spring will feel like a mild summer. For some reason we totally forget that spring generally means plenty of rain. The rain that comes all day and all night and ruins your nice shoes.

Let us take this opportunity to prepare for the worst. Let's wrap your feet up in something that'll stay dry, and avoid ruining your other pairs of shoes. I understand that such a task can be dificult, especially when you read the words "wrap your feet up" and for a moment you picture tying plastic bags around your feet (don't do that).

May i present to you, the drench, by dr. marten.

The classic 1460 Dr. Marten 8-eye boot made from vulcanized rubber designed to keep your toes dry in the most biblical of floods. The drench boot features the same durable sole with the classic airware inner for comfort.

this boot comes in multiple colors and guarantees to keep you feet the opposite of moist, while providing comfort and durability simultaneously. They boast a 100% waterproof policy, so for me, they're definitely worth the $100 sticker price.

Rain is just around the corner. Swoop here and pick up a pair from Jildor on sale at $79.
