beatle monday.

I just recently created my own beatles playlist of their greatest hits and it's amazing. Not that my playlist is amazing (although let's be honest, it really is), but the music is still so dang good. No band has stood the test of time as well as the beatles. Their hits are just as catchy, and just as popular as they ever were.

They started an entire movement, invented their own hairstyle, and made women lose their friggin minds all at the same time. And they did it very well dressed... until the drugs. And even with the drugs they occasionally killed it.

Little known fact: beatles songs destroy mondays. It's science.

i've just seen a face

a hard day's night

can't buy me love

here comes the sun

come together

Whisper Words of Wisdom.

The Beatles sai it best, "Let it be."

Come Together.

Paul Mccartney,  George Harrison, Ringo Starr and John Lennon. There isn't a soul alive that has not, in one way or another, been affected by these legendary musical icons. The Beatles changed the face of music forever when their music finally hit the U.S. in 1963. 4 years after their official formation, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had already sold 2.6 million copies and they were on their way to their first-ever appearance in the states. They appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 and were seen by over 74 million people, about 40 percent of the American population. This sparked the "British Invasion" and changed the world forever.

It was an inexplicable combination of talent and chemistry. Paul and John wrote the songs, George played the right notes, and Ringo was the luckiest man in the world. Their list of awards and accomplishments is absolutely incredible, including 7 Grammy Awards, 15 Ivor Novello Awards, 6 Diamond abums, 29 Multi-PLatinum awards, 43 Platinum awards, 53 Gold albums, and 1 Silver album. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and in 2008 were ranked number one in Billboard's list of 100 top-selling artists. They also hold the record for the most number 1 hits with 20, but that's not all. Now you might say "James are you serious? There's more?" To which I would reply "Yes my friend there is most definitely more. Now sit back baby birds while I feed you with delicious knowledge."

All material awards aside, The Beatles have been featured and tributed in countless ways. Their music has been featured in countless movies and songs by other artists including the most recent film Across the Universe. They changed fashion and style for years to come, making European fashion and moptop haircuts popular  in the U.S.

Their Lyrics have inspired, their messages have touched hearts, and their passions have influenced many. Their words have become anthems to cultural movements. To put it simply, they changed the world.

So, my friends, I do not ask that you listen to The Beatles morning, noon, and night. It is not required for you to play their music all day, everyday. I only ask that you tip your hat to the four teenagers from Liverpool that changed music forever.

I'll leave you with this:

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. All you need is Love. For There are places I remember all my life though some have changed. Some forever not for better, some have gone and some remain. All these places have their moments with lovers and friends I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living, In my life I've loved them all. We all want to change the world, but when you talk about destruction, don't you know that you can count me out.

(lyrical mashup of The End, All You Need is Love, In My Life, Revolution I)
