rodney mullen.

A friend of mine is convinced that skateboard style is going to come back into the fashion spotlight in the very near future. I sincerely hope that doesn't include Volcom cargo shorts and puffy dvs sk8er shoes.

However, given that there are a few solid brands that are taking part of the skate community like Brixton, nike, and adidas, there may be hope.

In honor of this hope, here's a rad new video of rodney mullen.

nike powerlaces.

you guys, it happened again...the most coveted shoe for any sneakerhead...

Almost 30 years ago, Nike was asked to collaborate on a movie that would feature scenes set in the futuristic world of 2015. The brand was challenged to imagine sneakers that would suit the inhabitants of the advanced era. The innovation team, which regularly looks into a crystal ball of athlete insight and technology to project the future of sport, took that task further.

Nike will release a limited amount of pairs of "power-lacing" shoes next spring, however, the number of pairs that will be made available was not disclosed. The shoes will be auctioned off, and the beneficiary once again will be the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The latest edition of the shoe features "power laces" -- it senses when the wearer steps in it, and the laces tighten around the foot as the Nike logo on the tongue illuminates.

While Nike started doing this as a fun project, Parker said that reinventing the conventional lacing system could be applied to future products.

"We started creating something for fiction, and we turned it into fact, inventing a technology that will benefit all athletes," Parker said in a release.

fashion profile - brice pattison.

brice pattison is a designer for the brand todd snyder.

"there are things out there that I appreciate on other people that i wouldn't wear myself because I know it wouldn't be an authentic representation of myself."

I do believe a man should put his clothes on thoughtfully, but the end goal is to not look like you've been overly conscious to the way you're dressing."

"Style is about illustrating who you are in what you wear."

fashion profile - yego moravia.

yego moravia - designer, teacher and entrepreneur. creative projects at Hella Crisis. Graphic Arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

"fashion is really just the thing you say without opening your mouth; the thing you say by how the clothes lay on your body and what textures and rhythms, and even words, say on your clothing."

"i think style is curation -- i think it's choosing the parts that tell your story best. it takes a little bit of effort to dress yourself in a way that reflects who you are as a person...it takes a little bit of care even though you want it to look like it's no big thing."

"you have to take a little bit of a stand of are you gonna be the type of person that dresses like everyone else, or is there something about you that might want to express yourself a little bit...?"

stromae.

Stromae, the belgian artist blending hip-hop/, house, electronica, and legitimate lyrics. Stromae not only brings a unique sound to international pop culture, but he does so with seriously deep topics and lyrics, which is uncommon in the genre. His songs are good, and his style is on point.

We love stromae. you will too.

Hardy Amies Snowdon 2015.

This small adventure,
In that wild place and at the dead of night,
On we wound,
With forehead bent Earthward,
As in opposition set against an enemy,
With eager pace, and no less eager thoughts.

‘Snowdon’ by W.Wordsworth

“Wordsworth’s poem is a story about a battle between ‘man’ and ‘the mountain’. This combined with a more literal colour study of Turner’s palette, formed the beginning of my own story about Mount Snowdon: a modern man’s ascent of the mountain.”
